Rembrandt Charms factory

Over 100 employees make up the factory staff.

Rembrandt is a fully integrated jewelry manufacturer with a complete tool and die facility, in-house designing and model making that supports the manufacturing departments of waxing, casting, jewelry assembly, polishing, engraving, and stamping.

"Our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility boasts over 25,000 square feet of space. The factory is designed to create a productive and efficient work flow, while maximizing employee comfort," states Peter Weeks, president of Rembrandt manufacturing.

The open-concept factory features well-lit, color-coordinated work areas with task lighting at each station and carpeted floors. Organized departmental work areas help maintain concentration and increase efficiency in work-flow.

Charm Manufacturing

The Lost Wax Casting method of metal casting has been used for thousands of years to produce finely detailed works of art.

Here's where it all begins at Rembrandt Charms:

Models are designed and created by hand in the model area by our skilled artisans.

These miniature works of art are fashioned out of metal, wood or other modeling materials, using items, photos and sketches as a guide.

Staff of Skilled Artisans.

Waxes are removed from rubber molds.

The original sculpture is then used to make a rubber or metal master mold. This master mold is used to make quantities of "waxes" as shown here.

The waxes are soldered to a base which forms a "wax tree".

This wax tree is inserted into a cylindrical flask called an investment flask.

The cylindrical flask is filled with very fine smooth plaster. This fills in all spaces left around the waxes.

The flask is then baked at a very high temperature, which causes the wax to vaporize. This is how Lost Wax Casting method gets its name.

The spaces that are left when the wax melts create numerous replicas of the original master mold.

These spaces are then filled with melted pellets of gold or silver and allowed to harden.

When the plaster is washed away, raw charm castings are exposed.

Each charm is hand polished.

Craftsman detail each charm.

These castings then undergo hours of hand finishing and polishing, to create the finely detailed charms you buy from your local jeweler.

Some charms receive additional work with stones settings.

Many of Rembrandt Charms feature moveable parts and are 3-dimensional. These exceptional charms require our jewelers to solder multiple pieces together to create the fine jewelry that distinguishes Rembrandt Charms as a world leader in jewelry manufacturing.
