I Love You to the Moon and Back

Every night, you tucked her in and whispered into her ear, “I love you to the moon and back.” The words were always met with a quiet smile, which told you that she’d heard you loud and clear. You and your wife sit near the front pew in the church where the wedding plays out, the atmosphere tinged with a sunny glow streaming in through the stained glass windows. You beam with pride at the beautiful woman in the flowing white gown standing at the altar next to the man with whom she’s decided to share her life. As you...

Her First Steps

“Mommy has to switch the laundry over. I’ll be right back!” I walked into the laundry room and put the damp clothing into the dryer. It was 12 months since I had my daughter and I’ve never been happier. Sorting through the next load I couldn’t help but smile at how adorable her tiny socks and shirts were. Spring Love

Looking out the window on this rainy day I can’t help but remember one spring we shared together. We were up since the early hours and I remember how long we talked. As we held hands for support and slowly skated our way around the ice, we shared a great conversation about our childhood, work and family. As the rink was about to close, the ice became more open; that is when the snow began fall. Softly landing on her cream colored...

Our First Christmas

Our First Christmas

It was our first Christmas together since getting married. We both merrily set up decorations throughout the house and outside. Setting up the lights outside took us hours since I started a playful fight in the snow. Inside we lit candles that smelled of holiday spices. Christmas movies played in the background on mute while the radio played our favorite Christmas tunes. Our spirit could not be denied. Our newlywed expenses didn’t leave much for a tree, but we went out and got what we could. It turned out that the tree we brought home, wasn’t much of a tree...
